If you often have guests, a higher one might be more suited, because everyone will be able to reach their cup. A rule of interior design says that the height of the coffee table should be about the same height (or not less than five inches lower than) the couch. Ideal length is two thirds of the couch. However, no rule is set in stone. Depending on your tastes and the rest of the room, you can choose what ever size and color coffee table you wish.
Wooden coffee tables have less safety problems as a rule than glass ones; however there are still hazards that can exist. One of the particular dangers commonly encountered is the problem of small children learning to walk who injure themselves on sharp corners.
If you can’t decide on a size remember this: It’s better to have one that’s too big than to have one that’s too small. Wooden coffee tables, as well as all coffee tables, are usually 16 inches tall. Some however can be as low as 10 or 11 inches tall.
Find a coffee table that fits your room size, meets your essential needs, enhances your color theme, and accents your decor. You don’t want cups of hot coffee on the floor where a small child could step in them and get burned. People are less likely to spill the coffee if it is on a coffee table to begin with.
